300 win mag can

Yes, it can be legal to make a silencer. For everything Form-1, from silencer designs that are easily made, to filing forms with the BATF, to 3D modeling. Remember, you must have an approved BATF Form-1 to make a silencer. All NFA laws apply.

That is one seriously shweeeeet hunk o' burnin' love you built there.

I'm honestly thinking that could become the 'standard' design for big gun, non-sub, Form 1 cans.

delta, with all titanium internals are you at all worried about the sparking issues as the powder abraids the surface?

good question. ill discuss it with the builder and see what we come with. first baffle in ti can is going to be inconel or hastelloy. thanks for bringing this up.

I dont think it is too much of an issue. I have titanium cans and they have no noticable sparks at night. (who knows what goes on inside the can) It doesnt affect accuracy though. Look at the SAS Arbiter Ti, and awesome precision rifle can. Id say go for it. Nice build BTW.

ill take it into account. as stated we are deff going with an inconel or hastelloy blast baffle and now im thinking the spacer for the blast chamber too. form going out in the next couple of days i am told.

we intend to make the second better than the first.

i forgot. to ask the weight. ill get that for you.

material cost have no idea but:

tube is hastelloy and probably started out as 2"x12" (bar)
inconel blast baffle 1.75x2-3" long (material amount)
other baffles 17-4 (from bar of course)
caps im not sure
spacers from turned from bar (.05 wall), not sure maybe 316 or better

yes this looks to be expensive but he got it like that.

retail this is over 1000 bucks for sure.

Delta,
I shot the video for you. I did it on my I phone and couldnt figure out how to get it on image shack so I put it on facebook for the time being. Below is the link.

http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?v= ... =2&theater

Anyway, YHM Phantoms, the first is TI the other is SS. The SS one let out a little flame and the Ti didnt! odd. It had nothing to do with material though, Im quite certain it was because there was a little clp left in the ss and the Ti was completely dry.

Anywho, no sparks whatsoever out of the Ti.

Ill shoot you a better video with a real camera and have my wife upload it to image shack so I can post it. (It sucks being a caveman sometimes!) I will include various calibers (5.56, BLK, .308, and .300WM) with some yhm's, a Cyclone, one of my Ti cans, and our Delta Three Zero, and our Delta Three Zero-S (5.5")
I have a migrane and a brown recluse bite about 3 days after I got over pnumonia, so it might be a few days before its up.

My lovely wife is a proffesional photographer, so a video from a Cannon 5D should come out better than the Iphone, if not, Ill fire her.

yeah the blast from the ss can is probably from the clp and oxygen in the can (combined).

Yessir, Id much rather of spent all those dollars on firearms myself, rather than her spending it on a silly camera, but Id also hate for her to hold out on me so I weighed the damages and let it happen.

I had actually already shot the Ti can about one minute before the video because I messed up the first video, so the Ti can already had the O2 displaced, where the SS did not. Anywho, I love Titanium cans, even for semi auto's. The haters must not actually have them. It is a terrific silencer material. I would highly reccomend you make another out of Ti, you'll love it.
Machining Ti does have a learning curve, but by the looks of your boy's work, Id say he would be fine the first time. Just make sure you dont get it from Online metals or some such source. It will cost you over twice as much than if you were to get it through machine shop channels that buy bulk, and when we are talking that kind of $$, twice as much is alot! I look forward to seeing it.

Ill post internals of some of our cans, hopefully over the weekend if I have the energy.

The yoyo baffle is the best blast baffle I have I have found to date. It is proprietary to our cans, but me not being a stingy guy, Ill post pics as it is already pat pend. Any of you form 1ers are welcome to use them for personal use.

Its the 4th one I have had. Gotta love the ozarks. Last year I put my hat on and the brown recluse that made it home bit me on the forehead. I looked like an alien for about a week and a half, with a nice streak of dead skin right down the middle.
