I know this is a rather old topic, but I'm gonna weigh in here. If it's that magpul AFG, I'd say no. BUT, if it's a simple handstop, I'd say yes. Here's my reasoning: manufacturers are putting out AR pistols with handstops already on them. Ex: Rock River arms PDS pistol has a hand stop at the business end of the handguard. So I'd say, go nuts with a standard hand stop, but no on a AFG (because grip is in the name and blah blah blah)

ATF has issued a letter saying that the AFG by Magpul is fine on an AR pistol.
