Chipmunks, raccoons, opossum, rat, bird, cat, and whatever else will hold still long enough to get a shot at lol
Re: Savage MK II
Please tell me you have a can at least in the works... you will be shocked at how quiet it is suppressed- and so will the chipmunks.

Re: Savage MK II
The Sparrow is so sick on the MK II FVSR! I love it. I can go out anytime of night an rip rounds off at the backyard range. It's about as totally silent as possible. Working the bolt is louder than the shot!

Got rid of the ugly thread protector....
Re: Savage MK II
Does that new muzzlebrake stop the bruising to the shoulder?
If it doesn't splatter, shatter, burst or explode, it's not worth shooting.

Re: Savage MK II
Sorry about the "bed shots" But that is what my FVSR looks like with the Boyds Tacticool stock Dip Trigger guard and my Silencerco Sparrow SS on it. Note that I had to use one of the spacers mentioned in another thread as the stock barrel was too long on my particular gun. Someday, I will have the length cut down to the proper .400"

Re: Savage MK II
Sweet! Don't feel bad about the spacer, almost all my hosts use one in one form or another.
Back when I was threading like mad, I made them all too long. I'd rather be too long, requiring a spacer, than too short. Don't want to bugger suppressor threads with lead and carbon.
Then in one sitting, I chucked a bar of 303 stainless, and parted a dozen precision spacers which I actually lapped to within 0.0001" true in thickness (overkill) and with a number of differing thicknesses, I simply grab what I need. Cheesy, but it works.
Nowadays it seems that thread length is becoming more standardized for .22 applications.

Re: Savage MK II
Ergonomically, it's nice. Visually too. It's not a HUGE leap above the factory stock, but it does take it away from a hunter/plinker look and visually it's a bit more of a tactical tool. The price isn't too bad either. I'm happy, and I'd do it again.

Re: Savage MK II
I like the Boyd's much better than stock. It feels like a real gun now instead of a cheap piece of plastic. I would buy one again for sure.

Re: Savage MK II
Thanks, I'm still living with the factory version which required some sanding to free float, not sure how much difference that made on the 22 but it makes me feel better
Maybe Santa will bring me a Boyd's

Re: Savage MK II
Don't forget to ask Santa for the Boyd's trigger guard and hardware. You need both to make the transition.

Re: Savage MK II
Boyds took some work, its a rough cut and needs alot of finishing and bedding.... also quite heavy for a .22..... all in all i love it though.
Re: Savage MK II
Really? I am surprised. Was your rifle different, like thicker barrel or something? Mine dropped in. It took a little force, but no tools. I did have to work one of the holes for the trigger guard a bit, but nothing like "professional assembly required."firstsgtsteiner wrote:Boyds took some work, its a rough cut and needs a lot of finishing and bedding.... also quite heavy for a .22..... all in all i love it though.
LOVE my Savage. It sits ready and loaded to put away any pests that need to be sent to the void. Over the summer, these little bastards (tree rats) had gnawed a hole in the eaves of my house and had taken residence in the attic. I place myself in a tactical position - took me a day to low crawl into place - then I popped the commanding squirrel with a CCI target round. Some spasms, and down he went. What a great combination of rifle, stock, silencer, and optics. I think I'm getting quarter-sized groups at 40+ yards with mine.
