Fashion Colors?
Fashion Colors?
With the exception of a few shotguns with nice lumber, and a Kimber stainless, every other gun I've got is black. Black, black, black.
Everywhere I turn now, I'm seeing firearms in fashion colors: "olive drab", "desert sand", "coyote tan", "dark earth", etc. There's even this abomination from my beloved Sigarms:
Going into the gun shop is starting to feel like the paint department at Home Depot! So, what's the general concensus here? Do you like the colors? If so, which ones and why? If not, why not?

That's not an abomination, this is an abomination...
To answer your question, I like FDE/Tan firearms (Like the new FN 45) but other than that, I'm black or stainless.

It's an individual preference - most of mine are Blued and wood
When I got my HK it was my first plastic stocked rifle and then I got AR's and now I have some guns with Coyote, Green, etc plastic.
I have friends with some outlandish colors - camo blaze orange - Hot pink - Green apple - It's the difference between those of us that drive white, black, silver, beige cars and the cadnium Yellow, Red, green cars and guns

That was a common sneer when the M-16 was introduced....Mattel toy.2manygunz wrote:You forgot the disclaimer: Guns shown above not recommended for homes with kids. (i.e., they look like toys!)

Not really sure I understand the obsession with what other people are doing, but...
Sure it can get silly. It depends on how you view the gun (toy, tool, or collectible) and why you own it to begin with. Most people aren't honest about this, or their actions and practices don't mate up with their words, so it can get hard to gauge.
I have guns with different colored furniture simply to easily differentiate one from another in the safe. If I know I want the railed 6933 grab for black, the non-railed, grab for green, the precision rifle, grab for tan, the loaner gun, black M4 stock, .22, grey M4 stock (although I haven't painted the .22 yet), etc.
Additionally, black guns left sitting in the sun get hot as hell to handle. If you're in a training environment where that is a possibility or a commonality then having something other than black can make a huge difference.

Well, that put the decision in stone. My car is blue.Artful wrote: I have friends with some outlandish colors - camo blaze orange - Hot pink - Green apple - It's the difference between those of us that drive white, black, silver, beige cars and the cadnium Yellow, Red, green cars and guns
And I agree with Rob S about the purpose of the gun mattering in this. Because I admit that my Hi Power is a toy and a training tool, oh and for use in competition that requires small bore pistols. If it came down to zombies on pterodactyls trying to eat my paycheck and rape my dog, I'd not grab that gun.

normally I'm ONLY black, stainless, or wood...........but have to admit I'm giddy about the MRE color my new M6A3 will show up with.
as for red, blue, pink.....it would be funny to show up to a 3gun with a hot pink basic AR, a john deere green and yellow shotgun, and an electric blue and gold handgun...........catch s--t from everyone, then take 1st place! Other than that...smack yourself with a iron pipe if you're considering a goofy colored gun!

I got a silencer for my wife.......I think it was a good trade!
