Form 4 Trust wait time.
I guess this is a good time to hello. This is my first post. Been lurking for over a year.
So the ATF got my paper work April 15 and I got the phone call today that my LGS got my stamp today.
9 months 3 weeks
Seemed like a life time.

Re: Form 4 Trust wait time.
I applied last February 19 and the BAFT hit my CC February 26. I called today and was told there is an 8 month wait so it should be soon. When I said it had been nearly a year I was informed "They didn't get paid until June." Pure BS but what can you do? Roll on HPA!!!

Re: Form 4 Trust wait time.
I called nfa branch about a month ago.
Nice lady told me to expect about an 8 month wait.
I told her it had already been 9 months.
She said that I should see it in the next month or two then.
Seriously, that's what she said.
I'm wondering if where they're not splitting up the nfa branch to now include government transfer dept, and industry dept., if they haven't taken away personnel from the regular nfa branch to do it.
After all, I have heard government agencies have been under a hiring freeze, so the people speeding up government transfers have to come from somewhere.

Re: Form 4 Trust wait time.
I had one submitted by Silencershop on June 21 that was approved March 30.
Two that I mailed the first week in July were approved April 22.

Check NFA tracker and you should have a pretty good idea. http://www.nfatracker.com/
Re: Form 4 Trust wait time.
According to NFA tracker, we're almost over the 41f hump. Maybe another month.

Re: Form 4 Trust wait time.
We're no where near over the pre-41F hump. Our June sales KILLED Jan-May. No contest. The first two weeks of July killed June sales.
Two weeks of July could easily be as long as June-May, and possibly more. All depends on how fast the ATF is.

Re: Form 4 Trust wait time.
I disagree, nfa tracker shows that the forms returning now are from July 6-12. I don't think it'll be more than a month until all July 6-13 forms are approved.Joshua@CapitolArmory wrote:We're no where near over the pre-41F hump. Our June sales KILLED Jan-May. No contest. Re: Form 4 Trust wait time.
Here's the thing about the NFA branch that I don't think you're really aware of fishman.
1. Some examiners have a larger workload than others. It's why some people wait less time or longer time than others. Submittal date and approval dates aren't really set in stone. In the past, trusts were approved a lot faster than individuals as another example.
And lets' face it, some employees are just better than others too.
2. The way the examiners are assigned are not all the same.
*In the past, they have been assigned by state(s) so they handle all transfers into or out of that state.
They have been assigned by alphabetical number of the last name, and I'm sure a myriad of other ways.
And then taking into consideration the latest with NFA branch splitting up into 3 separate divisions (private, industry, gov't), I don't think anyone really knows how that's being handled now. Myself, I think gov't is getting priority over everyone else because that's how gov't works.
3. From what I have heard, there were more than 10,000 forms sent in the final day just from silencershop alone. A few notes about that.
A. That was greater than the amount of forms processed for the whole year in 1998 entirely. So, I think it's optimistic to say we're almost over the hump. We're barely just getting to the hump.
B. For every F4 that was mailed in, there will be at least one other F3 transfer from the manufacturer(s) to silencershop. So, the 10k number silencershop quoted just magically doubled to 20,000 forms NFA branch has to approve with them alone.
4. All of this isn't just falling on ATF/NFA branch.
Fingerprints and background checks are forwarded to/through the FBI, not NFA branch. So, you also have to take into account that their workload increased with the EO changes as well, so it's still to be seen how they are handling it (or not).
For every trust that was submitted after the date that has 2 names or 4 names on it, that one simple trust now quadrupled the amount of background checks that are being performed for a single NFA item as compared to how it was done before because individuals just had one set of fingerprints to deal with.
But that's just me thinking out loud.
Myself, I hope they are over the hump because my latest F1 was submitted the last week in July, although they have a much later date in early August that they actually said they processed the paperwork and put it in the computer. Despite that I have signature delivery and such dated they received it in July. What good is it going to do to argue with them about it?
But I'm not holding my breath that we're "over the hump".

Re: Form 4 Trust wait time.
Even though the different examiners work at different rates, the data on nfatracker suggests that they're all done with all their forms from before July 5.
10,000 forms? Do you have a source on that number? I'm not trying to call Bullshit, I just want to read that source if its true.
Even if 10,000 silencers were bought off silencershop July 12th, wouldn't the 10,000 form 3s have to clear before any of the form 4s were even submitted? That would put all these transfers in post-41f territory.
I do agree that the amount of background checks per transfer could have a big negative effect on post 41f wait tines, but I really hope that's not the case. I guess we'll see.

Re: Form 4 Trust wait time.
Wait, that's 10,000 form 4s, not form 3s? I thought silencershop transfered everything on form 3 to the customer's dealer, then the dealer and customer he to fill out the form 4. Why is silencershop sending in form 4s? What am i missing here? I've never done a form 4, only form 1s.John A. wrote:I have no reason to bullshit about it.fishman wrote: 10,000 forms? SS normally fills out the Form 4 as well. Its Powered by dealers have delegated authority for SS to do so on their behalf.
Re: Form 4 Trust wait time.
Well s--t. It looks like the 41f hump might not even be started yet.

335 days on a Sandman S
Both F4's filed 6/29/16

Funny thing is I got one approved 2 months ago that was submitted only 3 days sooner.

Today is day 279 from the day the check cleared my account... (Sep 31, 2016).
