suppressing an M1a scout squad or socom

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

suppressing an M1a scout squad or socom

Post by m1garand30064 »

What would I need to be able to attach an AAC 51T blackout flash hider to either a scout squad or a socom? Does the short barrel make it different then putting a mount on a full sized M1a? Thanks in advance! :o

check out the M1A section viewforum.php?f=70 There is a ton of info in there. The scout you just take off the hider and get a mount to fit. The Socom has a special adaptor.

Thanks for the reply! Now that I know that I will probably end up buying a scout.

All you need is a Delta P 5/8 X 24 adapter and your in business.

Here's my Scout with AAC 762SD,

An adjustable gass block doesn't hurt as there is a lot of gas thet comes back in your shooting eye without it. I use a Schuster on mine.

It's not the most quiet set up (not nearly as quiet a s a bolt gun) but it's good enough, especially once you get it off the square range and into the field.

Wow thanks! I have a full sized standard M1a and the blow back on that is really bad. I really like the gun otherwise. I am thinking of putting a wolff XP recoil spring and an adjustable gas plug on it and my future scout. How much does it reduce the blowback? Thanks again for the reply!

I'd say the Schuster reduces the gas buy about 30 40%, maybe a little more (once you get it tuned to your load).

There's a gas deflector that's associated with the M14 blank firing adapter that will help deflect most of the gas away from your face.

It snaps in the stripper clip guide and does a very good job. I had one on mine but a spot weld gave way and it fell apart.

I need to JB weld it back together.

The plug had a very noticeable difference. I have it set so it cycles with the can on and off. You can set it so it only cycles with the can on and there would be a lot less gas.

Also there is a mod you can do to the gas spindle. On this page viewtopic.php?t=31231
Im going to be looking into this route.

I havent tried the blank gas shield yet. Being left handed im not sure how well it will work
