Best suppressor for 300 Win Mag

Post by Thebreeze »

I am building a 300 Win Mag on a Remington 700 action. I want to "tame the beast" and seek your opinions. I already own a Gemtech M4-96D for my AR and am very happy with it. Thanks for your help.

That is easy. The best is what the Army decided what was best for the XM2010. They spent millions of dollars to find out what was best.

Not that i doubt that the 300sd rocks, but because the military wants it doesn't always mean it is the greatest ever.

I think they went with the Titan, not the 300SD.

That is a valid point. I think it depends on your objective.

In all reality all of the big(ish) bore can s AAC makes look sweet, so if I was in the market, I would definitely be leaning that way

If you can stand the weight the SS thread on TITAN is amazing. It makes .338LM quiet.

TRG-42 Lapua with the TITAN. It's in its blanket because it is cold outside.

The TITAN family is an awesome option, the thread-on ones updated for 2011.
The new MSRP's on them are sweet!

2011 TITAN-SS - MSRP $1195
2011 TiTAN-Ti - MSRP $1695
2011 TiTAN-QD - MSRP $1995

Would it be ok to shoot 300 Win Mag through something like the 762-SD?

Sure, they don't always buy the best of everything, but that were their goal this time. They wanted quiet, light, low POI shift, accuracy, durability, and flash reduction.

This is true. The military plans on moving a lot more than shooting.

If somebody wants the quietest out there, they could choose to buy something that is 5 times as big.

Im not knocking the AAC, and from what I read it is one of the best 300 wm cans in all of the land, but the army makes alot of these choices based on politics and have a good idea what they are going to choose before they even test them. That is a bad way to legitify, if that is a word, the can, when there are so many other good aspects of it you could tout.

Because I know how the military tested them, and because no one else could do that much testing, I am going to trust the military way more than what anyone else says.

They also bought the best 45 can at the time, the KAC. And they bought the best M4 can back in the 1990s - the KAC.

And the Ops Inc was probably the best can for the SPR available at the time - and they picked that.

Ok, I'll bite. If you were building a 300 Win Mag, what can would you use?

It depends on my uses, but for most applications, I would go with the Titan or the SWR. See, I really wasnt knocking them! just the military's selection process.

Thunder Beast has a Ti can rated for 300WM. I would take a look at it. I have one and it is impressive. I have not shot it on a 300WM but it works well on a .308

KAC and LWRC both got the boot in the IAR tests, that doesn't mean they are bad rifles.

The whole FN SCAR and HK 416 tested better than Colt M4 recently, but that doesn't stop the army of guys defending Colt.

The YHM Phantom is rated for up to 300 ultramag, I know its heavy but it can handle what ever you throw at it.

Take a look at the SHARK 300WM model called the Tigershark.
Its amazing how much it can muffle the 300wm round!

Whenever my approval comes through (check cashed Jan 10th) I'll let you know how I like it on a .300WM.
