This would be good for deploying HF wire antenna systems in a shtf situation or to help get an VHF ant. tree top high but out of sight quickly.

Re: The PADS (Pneumatic Antenna Deployment System)
Cool, but you could do the same with any rifle grenade launcher (like on a Yugo SKS, adapter for Garand, M-14, etc) and a practice grenade with some string on it. I have a few hundred blanks of 7.62x39 and a Yugo SKS. Been meaning to pick up a NATO practice rifle grenade which I hear goes about 150 feet. Would be a fun experiment. I know the Navy uses the same thing to launch lines with the NATO grenade adapter for the M-14.

Re: The PADS (Pneumatic Antenna Deployment System)
I've used Whammo slingshots without the reel, spreading the line out on the ground hoping it wouldn't tangle and that worked pretty good, just have to make sure the sinker you use goes over the tree and not hit a branch and bounce back and get you.
I've also tried a bow and arrow but it can be dangerous and come down on someone or their roof.
For short trees a baseball works fine.
I liked the idea of the PADS as it saves time if you want to get something up quickly and not be seen doing it as in a shtf situation.
