Hi all. I have been shooting for years but I recently started collecting tax stamps. I'm looking for subsonic ammo other than 9mm, 45 and 300 BLK. Something for my ARs, AK and other guns- suppressed or not. I saw on MidwayUSA that Atomic Ammunition has subsonic in calibers like match grade 223, 308, 300 Win Mag and CYCLING 5.56 CYCLING 7.62X39 and CYCLING .308 with a 260 grain bullet?
Online reviews for the 223 and 308 look really good- the cycling subsonic loads are listed as new products. I see Atomic Ammo on the shelves at Cabelas and Sportsmans Warehouse plus local shops. Has anyone here tried it? With all of the major retailers and reviews it looks pretty legit.
I may buy some and post.
CYCLING SUBSONIC AMMO! 5.56 7.62X39 308

I've bought Atomic in .223 and .308 and they definitely do not cycle in any of my many firearms. You can zero them for 100 yards but I don't have enough scope adjustment to get these ballistics poor rounds out to 300 yards.RGfromPA wrote:Hi all. I have seen YouTube Videos of cycling .223/5.56 ammunition using 80 and 100 grain projectiles... there may be more videos out there for cycling other calibers but I stopped looking and just use my Blackouts with subs and suppressors... It can take a little trial and error to find the optimum barrel length for subs and different cans definitely provide different levels of back pressure which can affect you good or bad....

They could be using pistol gas systems instead of carbine gased system. Makes a big difference.

Agreed, we only use pistol length gas tubes on any length Blackout barrel if we want subs to work reliably with suppressors. And always direct impingement , never piston with Blackouts.hardcase wrote:They could be using pistol gas systems instead of carbine gased system. Makes a big difference.
I shoot subsonic.308 in a Ruger Precision bolt action. Very accurate and quieter than a semi.
I just moved and am setting up my reloading gear now. I'm going to get some heavy projectiles and try to make subs that will cycle .223 and .308.
