KAC Picture Thread
Re: KAC Picture Thread
Here's my latest. She's a box stock MOD1 waiting on a few odds and ends setting patiently for me until I'm home again. Optics will be a simple Leupold Tactical Prisimatic red dot, I'm waiting on a new KAC 556 QDC Flash Eliminator (30555) from Lawmans, Magpul sling arrived yesterday and I'm undecided on possibly a grip swap and I have a Young NM bolt carrier to try. Other wise she's a clean slate waitng to go!

Ayan that looks great! I just ordered my KAC URX 3.1 10.75" P/N: 30590 from you, now I just have to decide what I'm going to put it on. But I have a sneaking suspicion like most of us here, one part will start an entirely new build.

I would like to know what you did to replace the original hand guards on the DOE upper with the rail system? Also, how did you get the three lug attached to the DOE upper's barrel? Very impressive work BTW!

Re: KAC Picture Thread
Thanks Ray, it actually started life as a Colt 635 Upper. I've wanted a factory DOE upper for a long time but have always put it off to buy another KAC rile. I built it as a DOE clone upper first but like all my non-KAC guns, they end up getting KAC kitted out (G36C, MP5, MP5K, HK53, UMP, etc all have heavy KAC flavor).
The barrel was shortened from 10.5 to 7.5 so that I could attach my 3 Lug for a SWR suppressor. The FF Carbine Length RAS was shortened and the top milled to accept the DOE folding front sight. A KAC MRE spacer was used to fill the gap on the FF RAS, and there is a .007 spacer behind the barrel nut. Marvin did all the work, he suggested I use a URX but I really felt that the FF RAS embodied the DOE look. I really have to thank Marvin for all his great work as always.
The biggest benefit to me being overseas all the time is not worrying about the wait times for builds or stamps. This one took a while and was finished the last time I was home, I really enjoyed how it turned out. Thanks again, Geno

Re: KAC Picture Thread
With regards to your SR-15, did you deliberately replace the 13.5" URX III with the shorter variant, or did yours come that way? Also, what are your impressions of the MAMS device? Just curious. Nice configuration. Thanks.buckjay wrote:

Re: KAC Picture Thread
Had to sacrifice a couple of previous builds to get this one, but it was worth it. Gives me a good excuse to spend time on one rifle while I begin work on my next one...

Re: KAC Picture Thread
I thought I would throw it back old school. Sorry about the crappy pics, I was home recently for a very VERY short time and had a little bit of time to do some assembly and even less time to take pics. But I've been itching to complete these builds for awhile (obviously not finished yet). But here is the progress on my recent KAC Mk12 builds.
KAC Mk12 Mod 0:
KAC SR-15 Semi Auto Lower Receiver P/N: 22360
KAC SR-15 E3 Upper Receiver
KAC SR-15 M4 BCG (not easy to find, hence my long standing WTB ad in the EE)
CLE Douglas 18" SPR Barrel
KAC Mk12 Mod 1:
KAC SR-15 Match Complete Rifle (I hunted for about 2 years for one, luckily the one I found came with the uber rare URX II Rifle Length P/N 23258 w/o the integrated flip up sight - DOUBLE BONUS!) and factory Krieger barrel (these things are a beast under the FF RAS, it was actually shortened from 20" to 18")
They will both lose the Sierra Precision grips an get replaced with A1 grips, both will get correct optics, and the Mod 0 will get rattle canned. The Mod 0 is already sporting a A1 "D" type stock.

Re: KAC Picture Thread
Buckjay.....did you modify the front of that URX 3.1 to mimic the old URXs? Looks good !
Re: KAC Picture Thread
Good eye! Yeah I did that before sending it off to cerakote. Its a 14.5" factory dimpled barrel, feels very nice.cal wrote:Buckjay.....did you modify the front of that URX 3.1 to mimic the old URXs? Looks good !
