I have a TA45-2 1.5x24 ACOG. I like it enough, but I've been thinking about trading it for an Aimpoint Micro.
I don't feel like I can acquire targets as fast as I could with a 1x optic.
What have been your experiences with either optic? Which would you choose first and why?
Thanks for your input
So I'm thinkin' about ditching my ACOG....

In my experience the T1 is faster, although the 30mm Aimpionts are even faster due to a little more flexibility in terms of head position. In other words, you can be sloppier with the 30mm Aimpoints.
I used to run a 1.5x compact ACOG. If you have an uncorrected astigmatism you'll want to look through an Aimpoint first to make sure it doesn't distort the dot too much. That is why I used to run the ACOG, no distortion.

Great! Send me your T-1 with a KAC mount and I'll decide for you.rsilvers wrote:There is no answer. I have a pile of sights. I cannot decide even with them on the shelf in front of me.
Seriously though, you don't have a favorite?
I do not like the Eotechs. Don't ask me why.

Oh, now I have to know!tmix wrote:I do not like the Eotechs. Don't ask me why.
Do you know someone with the Aimpoint that will let you borrow it so you can run it on your rig for a trip to the range? That's the only real way to know if it is right for you.
So true. I think it is funny when guys are hard up on a truck manufacturer. I'll bet that most of them haven't even driven the other manufacturer's trucks! Same/same with optics, handguns, and AR operating systems.aquajon wrote:Chevy

I like the low profile and light weight of the T-1.

I'm not a big fan of the 1.5x stuff. A lot of the guys that I shoot with have complained that 1.5 is just enough to throw you off at short range, and I've noticed the same thing. The extra half power is just enough to prevent me from running the gun with both eyes open.
I run a 4x ACOG on my M4, and I'm putting an Aimpoint on my SBR when the paperwork comes back. I like to have one or the other--this isn't a situation where compromise works for me.
