Trail Boss and .38 spec

Trail Boss and .38 spec

Post by hardcase »

I bought Trail Boss primarily for sub-sonic reloading in my .308 and 300 Blackout. I had to buy 4 lbs as that was the only size I could find. A little goes a long way creating boxes & boxes of ammo. I was looking for Little Gun but none was to be had anywhere. Anyway, I found a receipt on Hodgdon's site to use Trail Boss for .38 spec and it actually works quite well. 3 GNs gives me 595-620 fps out of a 4" barrel and 158 GN lead bullet. A nice, low recoil load. http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp

I'm on the lookout for another use for this powder, when I get around to reloading other cartridges. I have not tried it yet but see it can also be used for .45 ACP loads.

Bender do you have a decent sub-sonic .308 load? I have a 24 inch barrel.
