AR15 .22LR barrel

Post by Rixxie33 »

My first post on Silencer Talk- I want to
thank all of you on this form for the wonderful
topic's from A to Z.

I also want to thank member "Redtazdog" on this
forum for his wonderful work on the barrels he has
done for me. And all his patience and knowledge
he has given me on the 22LR barrels.

My newest barrel is 5.5" on my CMMG.
His prices are more than fair, and the quality of
his work is second to none.

As soon as he got the parts I sent him, he let me
know. That day he sent pictures of the barrel, full
length, then cut to length. He also test fired it that night.

He sent it back to me the next day, priority. Three day's
latter I had it at my house. That's something you don't hear
of much more these day's!

Got to the range with it- put through 150 rounds of bulk
and not one problem. Like I said this is my second barrel from
him, the first being a 10", I shoot carbine and rime fire matches
with this barrel. But next steel match the 5.5" will be all set up
on the lower and ready to go.

I recommend "Redtazdog" for everyone's barrel needs.

Thanks, Robert.

I'm glad you like your barrels as I take pride in making them for many that want something shorter than rifle length.
I dont make barrels for a living but more for the fun and enjoyment of providing something that works like
it should, not something that money is spent on and gives problems like some of the barrels and parts I have purchased in the past.
Many years ago I started making my own barrels because the custom barrels I liked cost much more than I wanted to spend
+ I then had control of how it was made, chambered, threaded and crowned.
Soon after I made a few barrels for other shooters and found I liked the smiles on the faces that my barrels made,
so when I'm not real busy with my full time job I try to get some positive attention from people I
make barrels for.

I second the OP's response. My dealing with Robert for a 4.5" barrel was outstanding. The parts were in the mail the day after they arrived to him. I haven't been home to shoot it yet, but my dad said it looks really good, and Im really excited to get home and give it a try.

I guess I'll be third.

Had a couple barrels worked over by redtazdog, couldn't be happier.

Sending out parts to him for an upper as soon as they arrive here. Can't wait to get it back and send some rounds downrange.

That's REALLY making me consider ditching my current quad rail and going for Troy handguard. That is friggin sexy.

Mr. RTD, I'm "IwearMossyOak" on ARFCOM, and I still haven't gotten home to put mine together yet. I will soon enough though and ill be sure to let you know it runs. I love staring at the pic of the barrel on my phone. :D

I just got my upper back from our fellow forum member redtazdog. He put together a dedicated 22lr upper for me using one of his 4.5 inch barrels with Sparrow threads. My SS Sparrow fit perfectly into the Troy Alpha Rail and protrudes by about 1 inch. Here's a few photos for you guys. And BTW, if you're ever in the market for a custom threaded 22lr AR15 barrel I cant recommend redtazdog enough. He does amazing work.

Thank you for posting pics Flipz. Your fun stick is sick. Good work as usual redtazdog.

I'm using the same HGs, grips and can on my S&W 15-22 SBR and now I know what the front end will look like.
If it doesn't splatter, shatter, burst or explode, it's not worth shooting.

Sure is. I added Troy's new "Squid Grips" to it which feel really nice.

All I need now are my stamps, they should be here any week. Just a Spikes fake can on there for now, with a RedTazDog 4.5" barrel.

Another thanks to redtazdog, he had my barrel back in a week and the quality was very top notch. I put a couple of hundred rounds through it and runs like a champ.

Ambi lower nice! is that one of the newer Blackdog machine mags ?
I have not tested out the newer mags yet as I have about 40 of the older mags and they all work good.
I have two older BDM mags that I use to test barrels and kits with, both have well over 10,000 rounds each through them
and still work fine.

Yep thats the new mag they just came out with. I got 2 of them and both ran with out a malfuntion, and they are much easyier to load. I also discovered that it will run on S&W MP15-22 mags :D .

I know this topic is old and it appears that redtazdog isn't doing barrel work anymore. Does anyone have any recommendations for simply buying a 4.5" barrel? Is the CMMG one the way to go? Will the threads need to be modified to run my SS sparrow?
