Hushpower "Moderator"

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Hushpower "Moderator"

Post by DGrunt »

Howdy All,
Has anyone actually used one of these Hushpower "Moderators" that are used in Great Britain? If so, how are the baffles designed and how effective is it
as compared to the statement; "quiet as an airgun when using subs"? The maker has both integral suppressors and a slip on.

This video isn't great quality, but the noises of several different guns are compared in a somewhat useful way. Bonus points for taking a cheap shot at US silencer restrictions. Seems to me obvious from this video that a .22" suppressed air rifle wins by a country mile, but if he had taken the suppressor off that airgun snd fired again one would likely hear a noise only slightly quieter than the suppressed subsonic shotgun.

And here's another video looking at the differences between 12g and 20g suppressed shotguns using Hushpower integral tubes. No shooting in this one, lots of lake about many years of experience with various models and gauges, and his other videos get into suppressed shooting.

This rat shooting video is especially telling, the Hushpower-suppressed 20g being incredibly quiet:
