I'M NEW TO THE GROUP BUT HAS ANYONE USED GEMTEC SANDSTORM 308 RATED ON 300 WIN. MAG.? WHEN I GOT IT WAS,NOW THEY SAY NO.I WANT TO USE IT ON A SAV.11O 26'' HVY.BBL.USING 178GR.HORN.BULLET AT ABOUT 2850FPS.I USE THE SAME LOAD AND BULLET IN MY 308.MY GUNSMITH SAYS I CAN SINCE IT'S STILL A 308.I'D APPREATE ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS.THANKS FOR ANY INFO.ON THIS.I HAVE CONTACTED GEMTECH BUT I GET NO REPLAY.
Re: gemtec sandstormon 300 win. mag.
No, don't do it. If the manufacturer rated the can for .308 Winchester, they won't warrant it against failure if you fire a 300 Win. Mag. round through it.
12 stamps and looking for one to put in jail. .

Originally they were rated up to 300WM, but I guess that changed.

So wait, you're basically using a 308 load (same primer, powder charge and bullet) in your 300WM? If that's the case, then you should have slightly less muzzle pressure (larger case volume) than you would firing that from a 308. I'm working through the same issue on my .204 right now, Griffin is giving me some data that I can't wrap my head around and I think I'm ok to use my 22 can on my 204. Haven't gotten any replies here, just spam lately it seems, so I'm going to roll the dice.
Proper grammar is awesome.
