9 mm and Trail Boss

Be careful -- low-volume ratio loads can detonate. Mangement not responsible for load data. Use at your own risk.

Someone may pop in with a 9mm load using Trailboss, but I'm guessing NO.

The reason is that Trailboss is too fluffy for the small 9mm case, resulting in low velocity with 100% case fill.

As a test, I just simulated it in Quickload, using a 9mm case, a Rainier 147gr RN bullet seated to COAL of 1.143". Filling it to 100.4% with Trailboss (5.9gr of Trailboss) it yields an estimated 780 fps in a 4.5" barrel. So...that's the max velocity you could expect with Trailboss and a 147gr bullet.

Simulating with a 124gr RN bullet seated to COAL of 1.143", you can fit 7.2gr of Trailboss with 100.6% fill. It yields an estimated 906 fps.

Warning: do not compress Trailboss so that the cheerios-like powder breaks up, since compressed Trailboss gives very significant and unexpected pressure spikes (from my own experience)
You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time...and those are pretty good odds.
