I'm wanting to form 1 an integral 22 barrel. I've seen a guy who did it legally but unsure of what to do exactly. Disclaimer: I will not be doing anything illegal or before I have a form 1. He said he drilled a series of holes just past the reciever then made a small metal box packed with steel wool and attached it to the barrel then dremeled out the stock so.the box would fit in it and the factory stock could go back on. It was super quiet and I would like to do it. Does anyone have any information on what to do and legally. Thanks

IIRC packing material is considered a silencer 'part' and cannot legally be replaced be a non-licensee. If I'm not remembering correctly someone may be along to correct me with a link to actual facts.

There's a link to the form 1 build thread in my signature, start at the top and drift through the pages, I believe you'll find a couple-few integrals in there somewhere.

Packing doesn't count as a wipe?

Don't commonly found, unmodified, items not count as silencer parts (ie the threaded rods of different lengths in the salvo 12)?

I could be remembering wrong, thought I read it somewhere a long time ago related to chore boys.

Quick search found it.

Could be BS, I think the link to the letter is broken.

An old ST thread on the topic.

There was a bunch of noise about wipes for some silencers being parts as well, I don't remember if it was Dead Air only. Dead Air provided a list of authorized replacement stations.

I still don't fully understand the case for leftover parts like some modular silencers.
